Web hosting can be divided into two major categories dedicated and shared hosting. Dedicated hosting allocates one web server per customer, shared hosting puts many customers on a single web server. Generally most resellers are working with shared hosting. A hosting reseller will purchase a large block of shared resources directly from the hosting company and divide it up into smaller accounts. By purchasing a larger package at a discounted price the reseller makes a profit by marking up each smaller individual package. When you purchase the hosting package it will be from the reseller, however once your account is set-up all of your technical questions and support issues will be handled by the host and not the reseller.

If you decide to consider a hosting reseller try to look for an established reseller who has been in business for a reasonable amount of time. Since your contract is with the reseller if they decide to shut down you will be without a hosting solution, and may lose your code and backups. Choosing to use a hosting reseller can save you money as long as you understand how the relationship works and possible pitfalls along the way.
