Don't Suspend That Account Mr.Host

by

The server gets overloaded out of the sudden... The CPU resources skyrocket, as a diabolic little script renders the server unavailable - only s___!

Now the Admin is puzzled; should he terminate the client's account? The predicament is straightforward, always from a marketing standpoint: --> No!

(your objective is to generate happy clients, right?)

Instead temporarily disable the script by simultaneously informing your client about the incident - and instead of telling him to "change host or upgrade", show him the option of disabling the problematic script plus tell him that he would have the very same problem with other hosts so to clearly give him a solid reason to UPGRADE NOW!

Dedicated Servers are an option to offer as an upgrade.

Some hosting companies have set-up forums as a way of providing optimal communication with customers. ( like one of my fav. Lunapages: http://lunarpages.clickspect.com )

Customers appreciate rapid responses to tickets with sincerity - characteristics for a long-term relationship.

Another trend I discovered, if you are a hosting provider, is that competitors will join your clients' mailing list and then accuse them for spam so to force you to close the client down - for your loss or ...their gain too. Close the client's account and you just became a hoax victim of a devious antagonist. No-no, the client is your friend in 99.8% of the cases; he gives you his money Mr. Host and trusts you with his business.
